Healthy Cities: Improving urban life

Almost three billion people live in the world's towns and cities. Some of them enjoy a high standard of living, but most do not. The 1996 Habitat II conference, run by the United Nations Centre for Human Settlements, and the Healthy Cities Programme of the World Health Organisation are part of ongoing efforts to improve urban life around the world.
